What is the wavelength?
Wavelength – the property of light that determines its color – varies across the visible spectrum. Different colors correspond to specific wavelengths, ranging from the longest for red (around 700 nm) to the shortest for violet (around 380 nm). Beyond visible light, the electromagnetic spectrum also includes infrared, ultraviolet, X-rays, and radio waves. Light moves as a wave, and the wavelength is the distance between two peaks of the wave. It is exactly the same measure we use to determine the length of a wave in the sea, or in a vibrating guitar string.
